A collision involving three vehicles occurred on I-75 southbound at approximately 6:23 a.m. on February 6, 2024, in Miami Township.
The vehicles involved were a 2016 Jeep Renegade driven by Guillermina B. Neri, 61, of Dayton, a 1995 Kenworth W900 tractor-trailer driven by Todd Johnson, 57, of Fremont, and a 2024 Volvo VNL tractor-trailer driven by Christopher Cooper, 43, of Greenville.
The Jeep created a chain collision after changing lanes and striking the Kenworth, causing it to collide with the Volvo. At the same time, the Jeep continued off the right side of the roadway, where it hit a utility pole.
The Kenworth overturned, blocking the southbound lanes, while the Volvo struck a guardrail and overhead ODOT sign/support.
Johnson sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital. Neri and Cooper were uninjured.
According to reports, I-75 southbound is currently closed, and traffic has diverted to state Route 725.
Wrecker crews were on the scene to clear the roadway, and ODOT was repairing the overhead sign/support. The off-ramp to I-675 north remained closed for cleanup and repairs.
The crash is still under investigation.
Those injured in the wreck may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Personal injury claims and wrongful death claims are likely to result from the accident. Contact a local personal injury attorney to discuss your options.
