One person was killed Friday morning on Interstate 270 southbound at U.S. 62.
According to initial reports, the person killed was standing outside of their vehicle off the roadway on the left shoulder.
A vehicle traveling southbound on I-270 in the left lane went off the roadway, striking and killing the pedestrian.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Mifflin Township Fire Department arrived on the scene.
Mifflin Township EMS transported the pedestrian to Mount Carmel East Hospital in critical condition, where the pedestrian died of their injuries.
According to reports, the crash may be alcohol-related. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash.

The crash occurred Friday, September 9, 2022, at approximately 8:15 am and caused significant delays for morning commuters as 270 South was closed until 9:36 am for investigation.
